Our Story

Hi and thanks for stopping by,

We are Lee and Connie Reed. We live on a small acreage of outside of Quinter, Kansas and enjoy working in the beauty of God’s nature. Our farm is the starting point for all our products that end up in your hands and that is the Reed’s Bees difference.

2012

For us, being self-sufficient is something we’ve always strived for and that’s exactly how our story started. In 2012, we acquired 2 hives of honey bees and have grown our apiary every year since. As time went on, we became more intrigued by these fun, little insects we were blessed with and began selling local honey as a way to pay it forward to our community.  Aside from honey, we were intrigued to learn about several other healthy byproducts of bees and began to wonder how these could impact our health, too.

This labor of love is equal parts rewarding and demanding. Hands are an important part of any operation, but especially a manual operation, life ours. The season of planting, tending, harvesting and processing herbs, along with the Kansas climate, puts a great deal of stress on hands. When Connie began getting cracks on her fingertips, we weren’t surprised, but we also weren’t thrilled since she is a big part of the team at Reed’s Bees. We knew that bee pollen and propolis had numerous health benefits, but we started with beeswax since we had it in abundance. We started looking into how to make a product that prevents this problem from happening (not just cure it) using the very products we were gifted with through nature.

This included herbs, since we knew they also possessed many health benefits. But upon purchasing herbs, we quickly realize that they did not meet our standards. They were not harvested, dried and processed in a manner that allowed them to retain their potent benefits. From that, we decided we needed to raise or wild harvest our own herbs. After considerable research and tinkering with different ingredients, we landed on something that proved effective for its intended use – the Lotion Bar. We found that hands were only the start. Shortly after selling the lotion bar at local stores and markets, feedback began coming in on how it not only helped nourish needy skin, but also aided in the healing of skin disorders.

Our customers were excited to share how it helped treat irritations, nourish needy skin, and aid in the healing of skin disorders.

As we moved forward, we discovered that our naturally grown and harvested herbs proved to be a cornerstone in providing pure relief to different skin ailments. So from there, our journey of learning continued forward as we grew our hives and poured into the needs of our community using our God given resources. And as of today, we offer a full-line of products that are hand crafted from our local surroundings to offer an alternative option to the conventional products found in this market.

To us, Reed’s Bees may be a small business but we have remarkably high standards that pushes us to make products of quality and intentionality. And is through these principles and this practice that we consciously control our products to meet the standard of excellence we define as: Striving to provide all-natural, premium products, by embracing the healing power of God’s nature
